Our pharmacists work directly with your prescribing provider to prepare your medication with precision, and we deliver it to your door at no charge.

Is This You?

You’ve talked to your doctor about medically supervised weight loss. Your provider has mentioned semaglutide or tirzepatide. But you’ve run into challenges: the brand-name injections are expensive, your insurance doesn’t cover them, the injections themselves feel daunting, or you simply want to work with a local pharmacy that knows you personally.

Compounded GLP-1 medications from Jad Family Pharmacy may be an option to discuss with your provider.

Our patients include:
People who have tried diet and exercise and aren’t seeing results from lifestyle changes alone
Patients with type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, insulin resistance, or metabolic syndrome whose providers have recommended GLP-1 therapy
Patients who want GLP-1 therapy but cannot access or afford brand-name injectable options
Patients who are needle-averse and interested in alternative delivery methods
Patients working with the Jad Wellness Clinic or other Brevard County providers who prefer a local, relationship-based pharmacy

If you have a prescription for compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide, we can fill it. If you don’t yet have a provider, we can connect you with our partner wellness clinic.

Our Pharmacists

Jad Family Pharmacy’s compounding team has been serving patients throughout Titusville and Brevard County since our founding.

Every compounded weight loss prescription is:

Reviewed by a licensed compounding pharmacist before preparation
Prepared using pharmaceutical-grade (USP) active ingredients
Formulated to the exact dose and delivery form your provider prescribes
Quality-checked before dispensing

A pharmacist is involved in every step of the preparation process to help ensure accuracy and consistency.
We maintain a direct line of communication with prescribing providers. When we compound your medication, we work as part of your care team.

What We Compound: GLP-1 Weight Loss Medications

GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonists are a class of medications that may help regulate appetite, slow gastric emptying, and support metabolic function when prescribed appropriately. Clinical studies have shown weight-loss outcomes in eligible patients, though results vary.

Compounded Semaglutide

Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist. We compound it at the doses prescribed by your provider, typically starting low and titrating upward over time per your provider's guidance.

Available delivery forms at Jad:

  • Buccal Novafilm — A thin oral film placed against the inside of the cheek
    • Dissolves in minutes
    • Needle-free
    • Absorbed through the mucous membrane
  • Injectable solution — For patients whose providers prescribe subcutaneous injection

Compounded Tirzepatide

Tirzepatide is a dual GLP-1/GIP receptor agonist that acts on multiple metabolic pathways. Clinical trials have shown significant weight loss outcomes in appropriate patients, though individual results vary.

Available delivery forms at Jad:

  • Buccal Novafilm — Needle-free, absorbed buccally
  • Injectable solution — For patients prescribed subcutaneous injection

What Are Buccal Novafilms?

Buccal films are thin, flexible oral strips that dissolve against the mucous membrane inside the cheek. The active ingredient is absorbed through the tissue into the bloodstream.

For patients who prefer not to use injections or have difficulty with self-injection, this may be an alternative delivery option when prescribed.

We are one of the pharmacies in Brevard County offering this compounded delivery form. Your provider can prescribe it specifically, or we can coordinate with your prescriber.

Who Is a Good Candidate?

Compounded GLP-1 medications may be appropriate for:

  • Adults with a body mass index (BMI) ≥ 30, or BMI ≥ 27 with at least one weight-related health condition

  • Patients whose providers have determined GLP-1 therapy is clinically appropriate
  • Patients who have not achieved adequate results with lifestyle changes alone
  • Patients seeking alternatives to commercially available formulations

Who Should Not Use Compounded GLP-1 Medications

Patients with the following conditions may not be appropriate candidates:
Personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2
History of pancreatitis
Severe gastroparesis
Certain kidney or liver conditions

Your provider will evaluate these factors before prescribing.

We compound medications based on provider prescriptions. Determining candidacy is the responsibility of your healthcare provider.

What Patients Say

Pricing and Insurance

Compounded GLP-1 medications are not covered by most insurance plans. Patients typically pay out of pocket.

Compounded versions are often more affordable than brand-name commercial alternatives, depending on formulation and dose.

Pricing depends on:
  • Medication (semaglutide vs tirzepatide)
  • Prescribed dose
  • Delivery form
  • Supply quantity

What Patients Should Know About Compounded GLP-1 Medications

Compounded GLP-1 medications are subject to specific federal and state guidelines. Here’s what that means for patients:

  • Semaglutide and tirzepatide have been removed from the FDA shortage list
  • Compounding is still permitted when there is a documented patient-specific medical need
  • This may include:
    • Sensitivity or allergy to ingredients in commercial products
    • Need for a specific dose not commercially available
    • A prescribed delivery form that differs from standard options
    • Other clinical considerations determined by your provider
  • Your prescribing provider is responsible for evaluating your situation and documenting medical necessity
  • Jad Family Pharmacy compounds medications only when prescriptions meet applicable legal and clinical requirements

In practice, this means your provider plays a key role in determining whether a compounded GLP-1 medication is appropriate for you.

If your provider has already evaluated your needs and prescribed a compounded formulation, we will prepare it exactly as directed and coordinate with your care team as needed.

If you have questions about whether a compounded medication is appropriate for your situation, you can contact our pharmacy, and we’ll help guide you through the next steps.

Dose Titration and Ongoing Monitoring

Compounded GLP-1 therapy typically involves gradual dose adjustments.

A general approach may include:

  • Weeks 1–4: Lower starting dose
  • Weeks 5–8: Dose adjustment based on tolerance
  • Weeks 9+: Continued titration as directed by your provider

Regular follow-up with your provider is important.
Weight loss outcomes vary by individual and depend on multiple factors, including adherence, dose, and lifestyle.
